Rudolph Valentino (by Alexa Farhan)

1.      Why is this person important?
Although he lived a short life, Rudolph Valentino was a famous actor in the 1920s. He was an icon in movies and was considered to be the “Great lover” of the 1920s. In fact, was loved so much that to this day people still kiss and worship his grave.

2.      Why did you choose this person? How does her/his life relate to you?
I chose Valentino because I found his life to be interesting. He was so loved by women that people still worship him. My grandmother was a huge fan of his movies when she was younger and would still tell me stories of him. It’s amazing how even though he died in 1926, he still has such a strong fan base.

3.      If she/he had never existed, would the world be different from how we know it now? Why?
It would most likely be the same to how it is now. Valentino is mostly known for his looks rather than his acting. Also he is someone that the elderly know better than the younger generation.

4.      If you could meet that person, what would you ask her/him?
If I could meet him, I would ask about how crazy his fan base was. I am sure he has some interesting stories about his female fans since he is a sex symbol of the 1920s.

5.      Do you think the fact this person was Italian played a role in his/her achievement?
I don’t think him being Italian played a huge role in his achievement, but the fact that he was Italian led to other Italian men’s success in media. To this day many people consider Italian men to be more attractive than other men, and that partially had to do with Valentino and the craziness women made over him.
