Leonardo Da Vinci is considered part of the trinity of artists, along with Raphael and Michelangelo, who emerged from Italy during the Renaissance. Da Vinci created some of the most highly regarded paintings of today. He led a life full of art, imagination and curiosity. Leonardo Da Vinci is important because he was the quintessential Renaissance man.
2. Why did you chose this person? How does his life relate to you?
I chose Leonardo Da Vinci because he is basically the greatest person to grace earth. Not only was he a great artist, but he also mathematician, engineer and inventor. The first thing I learned about Italy was that Leonardo Da Vinci was born there and ever since Da Vinci has had a big impact on the way i view Italy. We have nothing in common; he was born in 1452 in Florence, I was born in 1994 in NYC. He is a creates art while i merely appreciate it.
3. If he never existed, would the world be different from how we know it now? Why?
They would definitely be so different if Da Vinci didn't exist! First of all, no Mona Lisa, that means no speculation about who she was or why Da Vinci painted her or what kind of disease she has. Da Vinci was the archetype of a renaissance man. We also would be missing out of some great pieces of art, like The Last Supper my favorite.
4. If you could meet that person, what would you ask him?
Well first i would tell him that i love him. Then i would bombard him with questions about who the people in the Last Supper are. There are so many conspiracy theories about his art, i would enquire about all of them and try to pry information out of him regarding his thoughts when he was painting.
5. Do you think the fact this person played a role in his achievement?
I do, i think Italy is a country filled with rich culture and environment. It must have impacted him in some form. He was also surrounded by other great artists and he was born during the renaissance period so he was influenced by the ideas of the Renaissance period.
